Barakah Kunda School was founded to ensure that no child is denied an education because of poverty. We are a charitable organisation based in the UK, partnering with a charitable school in the Gambia that provides completely free, high-quality education to children from some of the most economically disadvantaged communities in The Gambia.

Our aim is to all barriers to learning, offering not just an education, but school meals, school uniforms, supplies and support, all at no cost to families in the community.  Our vision is to empower children with knowledge, confidence, and opportunity, helping them become informed, responsible citizens and leaders in their communities, ready to contribute positively to the future growth of The Gambia.

Our Mission

Barakah Kunda School is dedicated to providing a high-quality, inclusive education to financially disadvantaged young people in The Gambia. Many children in some communities lack access to proper schooling due to financial constraints, and we aim to change this by creating a safe, well-equipped learning environment. The Gambia faces a significant brain drain, with many talented young people, whose families can afford a good education, leaving the country in search of better opportunities abroad. Our school’s mission is to fill this gap by equipping students with the skills, confidence, and entrepreneurial mindset they need to stay in The Gambia, contribute to its development, and build successful careers in sectors like government, education, technology, agriculture, and business.
